Designed by Barry Oursler and released by Williams Electronics in 1979, the Gorgar is known as the first “talking” pinball machine. The speech-synthesized game has a 7 word vocabulary of “Gorgar”, “Speaks”, “Beat”, “Me”, “You”, “Hurt” and “Got” to form broken English sentences to escalate gameplay.
One of the key sound effects of the game is a heartbeat that increases in speed the longer the game is played. The fiery playfield features Gorgar as a red demon-like creature and two desperate humans before him. These unique sound features and specialized graphics create an adrenaline rush mixed with a small sense of fear. The innovative game made history as the first speaking machine, and is the perfect addition to every classic collection.
